His birthday isn’t until April 17, but Henry Cardenas is set to celebrate the month in style—and in the spotlight. The CMN boss will visit the CNN Studios in New York this week for a one-on-one interview with veteran journalist Diego Bustos. The interview is scheduled to air on CNN En Español on Thursday, Apr. 5 at 9:30 p.m. CT/10:30 p.m. ET. The Colombian impresario will share his thoughts on the wildly anticipated soccer match between Brazil and Argentina on June 9 at MetLife Stadium. No ordinary friendly, this meeting will mark the first time the South American giants face off on U.S. soil. CMN Sports, the U.S. rights holders for La Albiceleste, co-produced last year’s U.S. vs. Argentina game, establishing a record crowd of 80,000 at the plush, $1.6 billion New York/New Jersey venue. Not surprisingly, this year’s match, dubbed “clash of the titans,” is expected to bring a greater legion of fans awaiting the supreme match-up of three-time FIFA Player of the Year Lionel Messi and Brazil’s rising star, Neymar. “It’s a friendly but there’s a fierce rivalry and both teams are in the middle of qualifying for Brazil 2014. The game matters—it’s about national pride,” says Cardenas.
Cardenas, who turns 56 this month, is also gearing up to participate in the Leader’s Panel at Billboard’s Latin Music Conference & Awards, Presented by State Farm, on Apr. 24. The week-long conference will be held at Miami’s JW Marriott Marquis. For more information on the conference, visit http://www.billboardevents.com/latin/schedule.
